Our 2002 Holiday Rambler Vacationer

After 9 years in my care – and numerous family memories and great trips – it is time to let my Holiday Rambler Vacationer go to another family or couple that will continue to use it to make memories of their own.

Our travel habits have changed and a smaller rig suits us better now. So, we’re downsizing. This RV has been my “baby” for awhile. While it will be sad to see it go, it is time. So, let me tell you about it…

They don’t make them like this anymore. So many rigs today are full of cheap, plastic parts and cheap laminate crap. This beautiful 36-foot 2002 Holiday Rambler Vacationer is quite different. Overall, it is a great rig and has been great for my family. Only getting rid of it because it is now just too large for our current lifestyle and we’re going to get something smaller. Some Questions You Might Have

We’ve decided that a smaller rig suits our lifestyle more now. Not only is it easier to store at the house, but a smaller rig is easier to use on shorter day trips. Due to the kids’ age, our days of month-long (or longer) trips are probably over for a little while.

Damage? No. I’ve kept things up pretty well. As for wear… well, it is a 2002. 😇 I will say, it looks REALLY good for a 2002, but obviously it doesn’t look brand new. The fiberglass has lost some of it’s sheen and needs a good buffing and wax. And some of the decals are faded or cracked, which is quite normal. I’ve gotten estimates to replace the decals from local people here and it actually wasn’t bad, if that’s important to you.

There’s always a punch list on an RV. ðŸĪŠ A few things…

  • One of the turning signal lights on the dash is out. Taillight still works, though. (I verified it).
  • I’ve had occasional issues with the multi-function switch on the steering column. I bought a new one, but haven’t yet installed it. I can give you the new one with the rig.
  • The panel in the wet compartment is cracked.
  • I’ve had occasional issues with water entry in the top window next to the driver. I’ve resealed it, but if the rig is on a slant toward that corner, I’ve still seen some. No damage at all, but it is still a pending thing to debug.
  • The front brake rotors likely need to be replaced, and I’ve already bought them but just haven’t had them installed yet. Brakes work just fine, but there’s a slight pulsation at lower speeds when braking. Likely some slight warpage of the rotors.
  • The brake booster had had a slow leak every since I bought it. I just make sure the power steering fluid is topped off and I don’t worry about it. I’ve even had mechanics tell me it isn’t all that big a deal.

There may be some other things. I just don’t know. With RVs, things always come up.

I put them on brand new in 2016. They are Toyo M154’s. So, they are not new. If I were to keep the rig, I’d be looking to replace them in a couple of years. These tires still look great, but have about 30,000 miles on them.
