[Day 1] Bumpy Start To Our Trip
Day 1 started off beautifully, then we hit a snag.
Taking off from the Tampa area (where we live), we headed east on I-4 toward Orlando. The plan was to take I-4 over to I-95, then head north. My initial plan was to get somewhere into Georgia then stop for the night.
It was going beautifully until we were in the Disney area. Then, our Norcold refrigerator started beeping incessantly.
I had no idea what was going on. But, the fridge wasn’t cooling any longer and we had a ton of food in there.
What to do? Stop somewhere for a fix? Turn around and go home and fix it before restarting the trip?
We stopped into a Camping World and, while the guy tried to help somewhat, he ultimately was very little help. I then made some phone calls to some mobile mechanics, but given the timing and our proximity to July 4th, the timing couldn’t have been worse.
But, one of the guys gave us an idea…
Pick up a tiny fridge at Walmart and run it off the generator. Salvage the trip, keep heading north, and get the fridge dealt with on the road.
So, that’s what we did.
Oh, and there was a little starting snafu, too.
This video has a couple of cuss words in it. Because it was that kind of day.
This video tells the story of our first day. It was frustrating, but the trip definitely got better. 🙂
